Who’s Roxy?

ROXY’S was named for Sue’s beloved pitbull, Roxy.  In 2008, Sue started her antiques business in the historic Piedmont mill village of Saxapahaw, North Carolina.  Her shop, Roxy Farms Antiques, was located in her home, a county landmark known as the Freeman-Boggs-Woody House. Roxy loved to wait at the door and greet friends and customers who came to the shop.  Those who knew Roxy grew very fond of her and they found out pretty quick that contrary to popular belief, pitbulls are good. Roxy passed away in October of 2012.  Her ashes were scattered on an Ocracoke beach, her favorite place to run and fetch sticks.

You Only Live Once

Spencer the CatI always believed you only live once, at least in this life.  So, in 2014 my partner David and I sold our houses, followed our dream and moved to our most favorite place, Ocracoke Island. In memory of Roxy we decided to keep the name of the shop “Roxy’s,” but since we’re no longer living on a farm we call it ROXY’S ANTIQUES ON OCRACOKE. The shop is conveniently located in Spencer’s Market, formerly the site of the Phillips-O’Neal-Spencer House on the main road through Ocracoke Village. Today the only “Spencer” living at Spencer’s Market is Spencer the market cat, who loves to greet visitors on his (or her) terms:  a good pet and a scratch.
